About this blog

'Don't open a restaurant!' is what pretty much anyone in any kind of financial authority has advised me ever since I was young.

If the clichés are true, it's the quickest way to lose your money, after investing in boats, gambling or pyramid schemes.

But the dream of running your own little place remains for so many. Sticking it to the big chains, being your own boss.

But with so much set against you, how on earth does a tiny restaurant win customers and survive?

I've been marketing small businesses for more than 15 years, and for the last six helped to oversee the success of Gauthier Soho, an independently owned restaurant in Soho, one of the most expensive and competitive restaurant districts in the world.

I believe that any independent restaurateur can market their business economically & successfully, just as well as if you spend a fortune on the slickest most expensive creative agency and PR company. All it takes is the right attitude, hard work, and a little bit of looking at things differently.

I don't see why this way of thinking cannot work for any little business in the world.

This is my blog with my little ideas to tell you all about it.
